MCCARTNEY, ERNESTINE BERNICE The death of Ernestine B. McCartney of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Thursday, March 25, 2004. Born in Salmon Bay, Queens Co., NB on April 20, 1913 she was the daughter of the late Michael and Blanch (Munro) Barton and wife of the late Hazen H. McCartney. Ernestine graduated from Normal School in Fredericton and taught school in the Chipman Minto area for many years and later at the Barker's Point Elementary School. Survived by one son, Willard Blake McCartney (Barbara) of Fredericton, NB; two sisters, Cora Chase of St. George, NB and Doris Tiffin of London, ON; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Hazen; five brothers, Carey, Warren, Clifford, Burns, Calvin and one sister, Marie. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, March 30th, 2004 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Ralph Irving will officiate. The interment will take place in the Chipman United Baptist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish memorial tributes made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
