LESLIE BRIAN BREWER

BREWER, LESLIE BRIAN Leslie B. Brewer of Fredericton passed away March 28, 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was born on February 23, 1945 in Zealand, at the home of his parents, the late Gideon and Sybil (Estey) Brewer. He was the fifth child of a family of twelve. He was employed as a logger and grapple skidder operator for the past 40 years, which he enjoyed very much. Leslie worked in various locations throughout Canada and was employed with such companies as St. Anne Nackawic, Horace Mean Forest Products, and recently Alton Jewett and Son to name a few. He was a true sportsman in that he enjoyed hunting and fishing as much as he could with many trophies to his credit and a distinguished dart player at which he also excelled, where he met many of his longtime friends and colleagues. Leslie lived in British Columbia for the past two and a half years with his wife Penny whom he married on March 30, 1997. Upon his illness he decided to come back home to New Brunswick in January 2004 to be with his family and friends. Many thanks to the many visitors he had and enjoyed while he was in the hospital. He is survived by his wife, Penny Reid Brewer, his children, Barbara Brewer, Lisa Brewer, Shawna Brewer (Kevin Dunnett) and Brian Brewer, all of Fredericton; two step-children, Katherine Reid-Shute, Fredericton and Lance Cpl. Johnathan Reid-Shute, US Marine Corps.; grandchildren, Ryan Brewer, Samantha Breen and Braydon Dunnett; the mother of Leslie's children, Lillian Brewer, Zealand; three sisters, Catherine Brewer, Zealand, Brenda Summers, Fredericton and Lorraine Wilson, Kingston, ON; six brothers, Neil Brewer, Luke Brewer (Marlene), Bruce Brewer (Mattie), Glendon Brewer, Peter Brewer, all of Zealand and Gregory Brewer (Rose), Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. Leslie was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Victor and Edison Brewer. Resting at Burtts Corner Baptist Church, 1034 Route 104, Burtts Corner with visiting hours Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the church on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at 2 p.m. Rev. Kevin Culberson and Rev. David Wellwood officiating. Interment will be later at Zealand Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alton Jewett, Trent Jewett, Burton Toner, Jean-Marie Dupont, Stephen Scott and Bobbie Cammack. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Leslie, the family has suggested the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
