DeYoung, John Roderick (J.J.), 52, of Westville, passed away on December 13, 2007. Born November 22, 1955, in Antigonish, he was the son of Annie (Rodgers) DeYoung, of Pomquet, Antigonish Co., and the late Arthur DeYoung. John was a member of the Westville Fire Department for the past 20 years, and had 28 years of service with Michelin Tire, Granton. He also owned and operated DeYoung’s Contracting and Mini Excavating Company. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Chisholm) DeYoung; two loving daughters, Robin Anderson (Andrew), Sherbrooke, and Tammy (Andrew Kirk), New Glasgow; one beautiful infant granddaughter, Ava Drew Anderson, Sherbrooke. He is also survived by his mother, Annie; sisters: Marie Myette (Bobby), Tracadie; Joanie Delorey (Charles), Pomquet, Marcelline Doiron (Jimmy), Pomquet; Rita Chisholm (Clem), Lower Sackville; Helen Glenn (Frank), Pomquet; Peggy Smith (Allen), Winnipeg; brothers; Joe (Helen), Afton; Clarence (Mary Ann), Halifax; Willie (Ann Marie), Brierly Brook; sister-in-law, Doris Doiron, Pomquet; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his dad, brother, Donald (Do-Do), brother, Jim and one sister, Dianne Rennie. Cremation has taken place. Visitations will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Ste. Croix Church, Pomquet, Antigonish Co., with Rev. P. J. Baccardax presiding. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Pictou Co. Christmas Daddies or Sleeping Children.
