SWEEZEY, EVELYN ROBERTA (RUSSELL) After a lengthy illness, Evelyn passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on January 15,1950 in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Bervel Russell and Marjorie (Whelton) Russell, and the wife of Frank Sweezey. Evelyn graduated as valedictorian from St. Thomas University in 1972 and then undertook graduate studies at UNB. While at St. Thomas, she was very involved in student theatre. She taught at James Hill High School from 1974-1977. In 1981 she returned to St .Thomas as Director of Public Relations and Alumni Affairs and later became Director of Admissions, a position she held until her retirement in 2003. She is survived by her mother, Marjorie Russell, Sydney, NS; her husband, Frank Sweezey and son, Russell Sweezey, Fredericton, NB; brother, Harold (Patricia) Russell, Burton, NB; four sisters: Thelma (David) Innes, Fredericton, NB; Paula (Henry) King, Nine Mile River, NS; Dawn Ann (William) Johnson, Halifax, NS; and Clara (Billy) Grey, Sydney, NS and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Bervel Russell. Mrs. Sweezey will be resting at McAdam's Funeral Home on York St. with visitation on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 19th at 12 pm at Holy Family Parish, Hanwell Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Evelyn Sweezey Scholarship Fund, St. Thomas University or a memorial of donor's choice. The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the nursing staff on 3SWand Dr. Tom Barry for their care and compassion.
