WAKELING, GEORGE HERBERT The death of George Herbert Wakeling of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Sunday, May 9th, 2004. Born in Upminister, Essex, England on March 1st, 1910 son of the late George William and Mabel (Polley) Wakeling. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. George was a longtime employee of Alcan, retiring in 1974. He was a longtime and very active member of the Canadian Red Cross, and a founding member of the 3rd Age Center in Fredericton. George is survived by nieces and nephews, one sister in law, Gertrude Alper and cousin, Peter Wakeling and his wife Margaret, and many close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Dorothy Wakeling and his second wife, Clarice Wakeling. A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, May 11th, 2004 at 6:00 PM at River Valley Funeral Services, 50 Avonlea Ct., Fredericton, NB, 4554267. Following cremation, interment will take place in London Borough of Havering Cemetery, England.
