Katherine Eleanor "Kathy" Smith, 78, Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, January 17, 2009, in the home. Born October 14, 1930, on Century Farm, Lower Debert, she was a daughter of the late J. Martin and Eva Dell (McCulloch) Smith. Kathy had been a resident of Hillcrest Manor and now Cedarstone Enhanced Care since the death of her parents in 1976. Kathy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her cousins: Adele Warner, Bill and Hazen Jonah, all of New Hampshire; Mavis Burton, British Columbia; June Morley, Toronto, Ontario; her caregivers and fellow residents at Cedarstone Enhanced Care. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., all in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, 378 Young Street, Truro. Reception will follow. Spring interment will be held in the family plot in Folly Village Cemetery, Glenholme. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy's memory to Cedarstone Enhanced Care are welcomed.
