HERBERT EUGENE FINLEY

FINLEY, HERBERT EUGENE Herbert Eugene Finley of Burton, NB died May 20 at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton following a brief illness. Born in Springhill, NS on August 2, 1917. He was the son of the late Howard and Laura Finley. Herb, a World War II veteran, retired after a long distinguished military career. He served during the war with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders and later with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. Following his retirement from the military he was Supervisor of the Corps of Commissionaires for 21 years. Herb was a charter member of Oakville Masonic Lodge and a charted member and life member of Centennial Lodge # 53 F & AM, Oromocto, NB in which he remained active up to his death. Herb also was a long-standing member of St. Luke's Chapel, CFB Gagetown. He is survived by his best friend and love of his life his wife of 63 years Noreen, and his daughter Jo-Anne affectionately known as "Smoke" to her Dad, of Nanaimo BC. Also survived by his sister Rena Maddison of Springhill, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, two brothers Harvey and Garnet and two sisters Margaret and Ethel predeceased him. There will be no visitation or services as was his desire. For those who wish, donations made to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Foundation or to the Shriner's, would be appreciated.
