Lawrence Alexander Embree

Westville – Lawrence Alexander Embree, 85, Westville, passed away quietly at the Aberdeen Hospital on February 13, 2008. Born in Westville, he was the son of the late Alex Embree and Jennie (Clark). He was a retired mail courier for Michelin Tire. He served in the Armed Forces, stationed in Labrador. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Name, Westville. Lawrence will be long remembered for his devotion to Viola, his love of children, his passion for music and fishing, pictures of nature, long car rides in the country and tree planting. He was also a strong supporter of Right to Life. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Viola; and daughters, Lorraine and June Anne. He is survived by his daughters: Joyce MacNeil (McGrath), New Glasgow; Dorothy “Doss” (Doug Leslie), Ontario; Stacia (Ray Paris), Halifax. Lawrence is also survived by sisters, Muriel Boyce and Joan Embree, Westville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, February 16, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery. No flowers please. Donations in his memory may be made to any children’s charity of choice. Condolences at rh@rhporterfuneralhomesltd.ca
