Union Centre/ Antigonish – Leo Edward Nowe “Little Leo”, age 76, of Shady Oaks, Union Centre, Pictou County, formerly of Antigonish passed away on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Kline Heights, Halifax, he was a son of the late William and Ethel (Slaunwhite) Nowe. He resided in Antigonish for several years where he was well known and often was seen working at Silver’s Cleaning and Laundry as well as local restaurants. Leo moved to Shady Oaks 14 years ago where he had made his home and family. He was very special to the staff and residents. Besides his extended family at Shady Oaks, he is survived by sisters, Sylvia Gardener, Bridgewater, Mildred Lafleur, Ottawa; and brother Freddie, North Grant. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville. Cremation has taken place.
