MCKAY, EVELYN PICKARD The death of Evelyn Pickard McKay of Fredericton occurred at York Manor Nursing Home on Monday, July 12th, 2004. Born in Medicine Hat, AB; she was the daughter of William and Jennie (Pickard) McKay. Evelyn was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She graduated from Keswick Ridge High School in 1935 and attended Teacher's College in Fredericton and later UNB where she received a Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Education. She taught in several small schools in Minto and Edmundston but mostly in Fredericton. She was a member of Wilmot Church where she had been active in the United church women and in teaching Sunday School. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Retired Teacher's Craft Group. Survived by a niece, Betty Lou Flanagan (Michael) of Fredericton, and their children Heather (Darin) Culbertson and Matthew Flanagan of Fredericton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Alberta and British Columbia. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 14th, 2004 from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel Thursday, July 15th, 2004. at 2:00 PM. Rev. Isabel Black will officiate. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery.
