NEW GLASGOW – Margaret (Peggy) Anita Cameron, 75, of 278 Abercrombie Rd., New Glasgow, passed away Monday, July 14th 2008, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Mount Thom, August 21st, 1932, Peggy was the daughter of the late James and Jeanette Cameron. Peggy began working as a nanny for the late Judge Russell and Joan MacEwan. She went on to work in the food industry for many years. She was employed as a cook and pastry chef at Sunset Haven Nursing Home, West Side Restaurant, Heather Motel, Lew’s Restaurant, and Cross Road Country Market, from where she retired in 1993. Peggy was a kind and gentle loving person, who was always ready to lend a helping hand. She was especially close to her nieces and nephews and their families, and took pride in their accomplishments. Besides her love for baking oatcakes and fruitcakes, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery and rug hooking. Being an avid gardener she took pride in her roses and African Violets. Peggy loved animals, especially her cats, Abby and Sheba. Peggy is survived by brothers, Douglas, Stellarton; James (Buster) (Olive), Salt Springs; sisters: Kaye, New Glasgow; Martha White (Rev. William), Alma; Faye Underhill (Hazen), Gagetown, NB; and Pat Collie (Allan), Green Hill; cousins, Sandra MacCulloch, Mount Thom; and Jean MacKenzie, Westville. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Shirley Brown; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Ina. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 17th, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held Friday, July 18th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Alma. Donations may be made in Peggy’s memory to the SPCA, the Aberdeen Hospital Oncology Dept., or the VON. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. MacLachlan, Dr. Farrell, Debbie Williams, Palliative Care, and Oncology Dept’s, VON and Home Support Staff.
