DONALD VERNER MOORE
MOORE, DONALD VERNER May 25, 1946 - August 26,2004 It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Don Moore. Don passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2004 encircled by the love and warmth of his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, he was the son of Wrixon and Annie Moore. Don always put his family first in his life and was the beloved husband of Paula (Harris), dedicated father to Jeff (Sheri-Lee Samson), Jayne (Ryan) Quinn and Jennifer, as well as a loving grandfather to Carter Moore. He is also survived by one brother, Doug (Marie) of Richmond, BC, as well as several nephews and one niece. Don grew up on a farm in Crapaud, PEl and, after attending one year at Prince of Wales College, went on to Pharmacy School at Dalhousie University. Upon graduation, he worked at St Joseph's Hospital in Saint John, NB, followed by The Moncton Hospital. In 1973, he moved to Fredericton and became the Director of Pharmacy at the Victoria Public Hospital and later at The Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital. After many years as a respected hospital pharmacist, he accepted a new challenge and was the Pharmacist/ Owner of the Shoppers Drug Mart in the Fredericton Medical Clinic since it opened in 1985. Don lived by the motto that every problem is a challenge and every challenge is an opportunity. In all of his endeavours, Don demonstrated a great passion for and dedication to his profession and he touched all those he encountered with his caring, helpful and positive attitude. He was a past president of the NBCSHP, past president of the National CSHP, as well as a former member of the CPhA Board of Directors. He was an active volunteer in his community over the years as a Cub leader, an Elder at St Paul's United Church, and was a past board member of The NB Osteoporosis Society and Southampton House. He was well known for his frequent medication presentations to different groups within the community. Don loved to travel and enjoyed music and sports. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and found no greater pleasure than relaxing with them at the cottage in PEl. He will be sadly missed by many but his kind, gentle spirit and his cheerful whistle will be remembered fondly by all. Visitation will take place at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Monday August 30, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 31, 2004 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's United Church with Rev. David Fisher officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dalhousie College of Pharmacy for a scholarship to be set up in Don's memory. www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
