CAIL, CARROLL H. The passing of Carroll H. Cail occurred at Pine Grove Nursing Home on Monday, September 6, 2004 at the age of 84. Born in Kent Co., NB he was a son of the late Leslie and Helen (Targett) Cail. Carroll spent his working years driving truck with Atlantic Wholesalers and later for the City of Fredericton. He was a lifetime member of the Agricultural Association and the Horseman's Association. Carroll was a permanent fixture at Fredericton Raceway for 40 years, having drove the starting gate for 38 years. His great love for horses was apparent to all who knew him. Like the horses who lined up behind him week in and week, out battling for position, Carroll fought a good race. He is survived by Pauline, his loving wife of 65 years; his children Helen Robinson (Sam) of Marysville, Sandra MacDonald (Douglas) of Burton, Carol Lockhart (Jim) of Marysville and Jim Cail (Gaye) of Fredericton; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Aleta Black and her husband Chester of Lynnfield, Massachusetts; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by a sister Jennie Hossack and her husband Bruce Hossack; twin grandchildren Kiersten and Cortney. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday September 9, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Christ Church (Parish) Church with Archdeacon John Sharpe officiating. Interment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery.
