EVELLEN DUNSMUIR

DUNSMUIR, EVELLEN Evellen Dunsmuir (nee Andrechuk), 77, wife of Hugh Dunsmuir, fell asleep in death at her home in New Maryland on September 7, 2004. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she was the daughter of Ignace and Anastasia (Hrynchishyn) Andrechuk. She was the last surviving member of her large, exuberant prairie farm family. She was predeceased by her parents, five sisters, Julia, Anne, Rose, Agnes and Angeline; and four brothers, John, Peter, Harry and Adolph. She is survived by her husband; daughter Heather McLaughlin and her husband Robert; son David Dunsmuir and his wife Deanna; three grandchildren, Hilary, Jonathan and Colleen; two sisters-in-law, Zigrida Andrechuk of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Eva Andrechuk, also of Winnipeg, Manitoba; several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to lovingly caring for her family, Evellen worked as a legal secretary for a number of law firms in both Manitoba and New Brunswick. Her love of people, her infectious laugh and her radiant smile were the hallmarks of her personality. Her home was known as a place where no one left the table hungry and the spare room bed was always ready for guests. She had the special gift of showing kindness to strangers and those in trouble. Foremost in Evellen's life was her firm belief in her Creator Jehovah God and her faith that death will be brought to an end under the kingdom rule of Christ Jesus. John 5:28, 29 Her desire to share her Bible-based hope took her, and her husband Hugh, from Asia to Central America and finally back to the Maritimes in their later years where she continued to share her faith with many Bible students. When she developed Pick's disease, she received the loving support of those in her local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service for Evellen will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 1 PM from the Odell Park Kingdom Hall, 184 Woodstock Road with Mr. Claude Gilks officiating. Interment will take place in the Andrechuk family cemetery at St. Norbert, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. York Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. www.yorkfh.com
