MR. AUBREY C. DIGDON
DIGDON, MR. AUBREY C. 1923-2004 Miramichi - Mr. Aubrey Clarence Digdon, husband of Barbara Digdon, of Marven Street, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Saturday, September 4, 2004, at the age of 80. Born in Half Island Cove, N.S., he was the son of the late George and Bella (Hendsbee) Digdon. He was a former employee and manager of the Agnew Surpass Shoe Store, in Bathurst and was the founder and President of Digdon's Shoe Store, in the former Town of Chatham. He was an adherent of St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi; a former member of both the Bathurst and Chatham Lions Clubs; a member of the Miramichi Golf & Country Club; a former member of both the Chatham and Newcastle Curling Clubs; a former member of the Canadian Power Squadron; a member of branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the Canadian Army in France, Italy, Holland and Germany. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Manning; four daughters, Debi Fitzpatrick and her husband, Tom, of Falmouth, N.S., Dr. Nancy Digdon and her husband, Dr. Michael Dawson, of Edmonton, Alberta, Heather Digdon and her husband, Dr. Ray Torres, of Columbia, South Carolina, USA, and Janet Noyes and her husband, Gordie, of St. Catherine, P.E.I.; one son, Robert Digdon and his wife, Cheryl, of Fredericton; nine grandchildren, Melissa and Andrews Fitzpatrick, Michele and Christopher Dawson, Madineo and Anna Torres, Sarah and Robin Noye, William Digdon; two sisters, Ruby Pelley, of Antigonish, N.S. and Hilda Groen, of Kingston, Ont.; one brother, Clayton Digdon (Agatha), of Guysborough, N.S.; as well as several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by one grandchild, Erin Noye; one brother, Emery Digdon. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Sunday and Monday. Funeral service was held from St. Andrews United Church, on Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi, N.B.
