PINE TREE - Margaret Lindsay Kirkwood, 99, Pine Tree, formerly of MacPherson's Mills and Thorburn, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, on April 8, 1908, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (MacDonald) MacMillan. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn, where she had been very involved with numerous groups and activities over the years. Surviving are daughters, Dolly (George) Rockey, Pine Tree; Jean (Barry) Stewart, Woodburn; son, Sandy (Peggy) Kirkwood, New Glasgow; step-daughter, Agnes Kierstead, Moncton; special daughter, Ida (Cyril) Fitt, Stellarton; sister-in-law, Lorry MacMillan, Dartmouth; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great, great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert G. Kirkwood; daughters, Olive in infancy, Rachael in childhood, Beth Allen and Marguerite Ehler; step-daughter, Betty Trefry; grandchildren, Sheldon Allen, Shawn Allen and Frances Doudelet; four sisters and four brothers. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Foster Jenkins officiating. Interment will be in MacPherson's Mills Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Peggy's favourite charity, the Canadian Cancer Society.
