POLCHES, RICHARD SR. On Wednesday September 22, 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Richard Polches Sr. of St. Mary's First Nation passed away at the age of 84. Son of the late Noel and Cecelia (Paul) Polches. Richard was the eldest member of the St. Mary's First Nation Community. He served in World War II with the Calgary Highlanders and was a long serving member of the RCL branch # 4, where he was once selected as Legionnaire of the Year. He loved making baskets and enjoyed the company of his friends and family. He is survived by one daughter Elizabeth "Betty" McCoy (Myles); sons Richard (Mary), Glen (Cathy), Allen (Bev), Claude (Bonita); one brother Lee (Emily) Polches; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one great great-great grandson; special friends Katie Paul and Charlene D. Paul, as well as nieces and nephews, all of Fredericton. Predeceased by his beloved wife Genevieve G. (Paul) Polches; one daughter Faye L. Paul; one grandchild Clinton R. Polches and sisters Evangeline Paul and Norma M. Paul. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road where visiting hours will be held Friday September 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Anthony's Parish on Saturday September 25, 2004 at 10:00 am with Father Monte Peters officiating. Cremation will be held with interment at a later date. Pallbearers are Jackie Francis, Ernie Polches, Tim Paul, Aubrey Ward Jr., Duane Paul, Gary Paul. Honorary pallbearers are Dave Boone, Ronnie Day, Wayne O'Leary, Frank Godin, Frank Weaver, Percy Sacobie. Standing guards are Ronnie Francis and Mark Ward. For those who wish memorials may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion or a charity of the donor's choice. The Royal Canadian Legion branch # 4 will hold a tribute service Friday evening at the funeral home. www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
