Marie Jane Illsley

The death of Marie Jane Illsley of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 88, occurred on Monday, October 20, 2008, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside. Born in New Town, Guysborough Co., N.S., Marie was the daughter of the late Arthur and Emma (Cameron) Archibald. Marie is survived by a daughter, Jane (Robert)?Harris, Middleton, N.S.; son, George (Barbara)?Wilmot Valley, P.E.I.; grandchildren: Patricia, Carolyn and Jillian Bishop, Mark and Mitch Illsley; great-grandchildren;?Izaak, Lily and Frank; sisters: Margaret Cleveland, Elsie (George)?MacDonald, Violet (Scott) Fraser and Edna Fraser, all of Nova Scotia. Predeceased by her husband, Allison Illsley; and brothers: Cecil, Henry and Hugh Archibald. During World War II she served in the RCAF (WD) at posts in Ontario. Later Marie graduated from Maritime Business College, Halifax, where she worked with the Department of Highways. Upon her marriage to Allison in 1949, they moved to their farm in Berwick, NS, a place Marie loved. Later when Allison began working with Ralston Purina of Canada they resided in Moncton, Truro, Sussex and lastly, Summerside, where they established the family business, Illsley’s Feed and Farm. Marie was a member of Trinity United Church, Summerside, and a Life Member of the United Church Women; she was also a member of the Summerside Lionettes. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral service will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Interment in the Berwick Cemetery, Berwick, N.S. Visiting hours today from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the P.E.I. Lung Association would be appreciated.
