STEVENSON, MARION CURTIS – 91, Truro, died Saturday November 1, 2008 in Arborstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. Born in Trenton, she was the daughter of the late James Albert and Letitia Maud (MacNaughton) MacLeod. Her early enjoyment of music led to study at Mount Allison University. Following her marriage to Roy H. Stevenson, she moved with him to Truro, where she lived most of her life until the past year. In the 1960s she lived in Dartmouth where she was a church organist and taught music. Marion took part in many musical activities in Truro, giving piano lessons, playing the organ at several churches, accompanying children in the music festival and assisting in the school music program. She was active as a senior and as a member of organizations for many years. Marion was known for her generous nature and was recognized by the province for her volunteer activities in Truro. She was a wonderful grandmother and received much joy in sharing her time with her grandchildren. She is survived by daughters; Margaret (Allan) Bowes, Bridgewater; Janet (Trevor Brumwell), Halifax; sons; David (Judy Manchester), Tatamagouche, Allan (Heather), Debert and Ian (Peter Keizer), Port Hawkesbury; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy; son, Robert; brothers, Albert and Gordon; sister, Kathleen in infancy. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A service of celebration will be held at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro on November 13 at 2 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
