Marion Isabelle Chesnutt

UNION CENTRE, Pictou County – Marion Isabelle Chesnutt, 84, Union Centre, Pictou County, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2008 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Cameron’s Settlement, she was a daughter of the late Ferry and Marion (Emery) Cameron. She was a member of the Middle River Presbyterian Church, the Church Aid and A.M.S. She was also a member of the Middle River/ Gairloch Women’s Institute and was a founding member and current President of the Union Centre Community Hall. She and her husband were founding members of the Pictou County Co-Op. Isabelle was an avid card player; enjoyed quilting, and bowling and always supported and volunteered in various community events including 4-H and the public library. She will be sadly missed by her daughters: Jeanne, Londonderry; Joanne Salter, Pleasant Valley; Nancy MacDonald, Pictou Island; Ruth Laseur, Alberta; Cathy, Union Centre; Patricia Lynn, Halifax; sons: James, Riverton; George, Waterville; Mike, Mill Brook; Robert, Aylesford; John, Rocklin; Kelly, NFLD; and Tony, Halifax; 28 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Nova Smith, Lower Sackville; and brother, Robert Cameron, Cameron’s Settlement. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; sisters: Gertrude Devaney, Mary Sutherland and Jeanne Mines; brothers: Donald E., Emery, Duncan, John, and Jamie Cameron. Cremation has taken place. Her family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday from Middle River Presbyterian Church, Rocklin, with Andrew MacDonald and Rev. Gary Tonks officiating. As per Isabel’s wishes a joint committal service for her and her husband, Lloyd, will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery following the memorial service. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the Middle River Presbyterian Church, c/o Bill Gordon, R.R.#2, Westville, BOK 2AO or the N.S. Lung Association.
