Mrs. Emily Thompson, 96, Sunset Haven, New Glasgow, formerly of Springhill, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in The Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Amherst she was a daughter of John and Emily Crutchley. She resided in Springhill all of her married life moving to Pictou County in 1980. In her younger years, she sang on stage and also sang in several church choirs. Mrs. Thompson will be sadly missed by her daughter, Margaret Good (Ronald), Tracy, N.B., and grandchildren: Glynn Alderson Westville; Jim Vance, Halifax; Tim MacKenzie, Alta.; Tony MacLean, Alta; David Good, N.B.; Geraldine Arey, Alta; Karen Eastwood, N.B.; Derrick Good, Bridgewater; Kelly Luke, N.B.; several great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James Thompson, and daughter Lois Alderson. Visitations will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, from where her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 o’clock with Rev. Meredith Marple officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Mapleton Cemetery, Springhill.
