ELLIOT LAKE – It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing away of Robert B. Dakens, 88, Sunday, January 11, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elliot Lake, Ontario. Beloved husband of the late Annie Dakens, loving father of Helen (Don) Bartlett, Leslie (Marijane), Ann Lizotte and the late Robert Dakens Jr.; loving friend of Carol Ann Latendresse. Robert is survived by his sister, Dorothy “Dolly” Gillis, Stellarton, N.S. He was a cherished grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle to many. A longtime resident of our community and a retiree of Rio Algom, Bob will truly be missed by numerous friends and relatives. A legion service was held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Elliot Lake. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution to either the Heart and Stroke or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by his family.
