TRENTON – Robert Clarke “Bob”Dickson, age 84, of 7th Street, Trenton, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008 in the Aberdeen Hospital New Glasgow. Born in Sylvester, he was a son of the late Rueban and Caroline (Clarke) Dickson. He was a retired maintenance employee of Irving Oil. He and his father built the former Saint Augustine Anglican Church in Trenton. He served overseas during the Second World War, in Italy and Holland. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 28 Stellarton, the Cape Breton Highlander Association and the Steeltown Friendly Group. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Mary Saunders; daughter, Jane (Gary) Campbell, Pictou Landing; sons: Pat (Isabell), Lower Sackville; Ronnie (Paula), Trenton; grandchildren: Kimberley (Gary) MacLean; Melissa (Tyler) Wilson; Amy Dickson; Ashley Dickson (Mike); Brittney Dickson (Mike); Jordan Dickson; great- grandchildren: Connor, Brooklyn, Spencer; sisters: Dorothy Fisher, Truro; Jessie Polley, Egerton; brother: Wally, Sturgeon, PEI; step-sister: Gladys MacKay, Pictou Landing. He was predeceased by sisters: Hannah and Vina, brothers: Ted, Earl and Archie. Cremation has taken place. Visitation from 1-2 p.m., Monday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton, from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Christ the King Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of choice. Royal Canadian Legion will meet at the funeral home at 12:45 p.m., Monday to conduct their service.
