SYLVESTER – Roland Douglas MacDonald, age 71, Sylvester, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, after a short illness. Born in Bridgeville, he was a son of the late Douglas and Florence (Reid) MacDonald. Rollie worked at Hawker Siddeley and TrentonWorks until retirement and enjoyed sport fishing and hunting. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Catherine Ruth (Newington); daughters, Debbie Feltmate (Steven Publicover), Caribou River; Jessie (Tim) Benjamin, New Glasgow; son, Neil (Susan), Alabama; step-daughters, Irene Landry, Green Hill; Ruth (Sid) Hodgson, Sylvester; step-sons Stewart (Elizabeth) Anderson, Stellarton; Robert Anderson, Stellarton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Art (Pat) MacDonald, Clementsport; Neil (Phyllis) MacDonald, New Glasgow; and Fred MacDonald, Springville. Rollie was predeceased by a son, Eddie; sisters, Carolee MacIntosh and Daisy MacKean; and brothers, Peter and Hugh MacDonald. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A private burial will take place at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. No flowers by request. Donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care Society, Aberdeen Hospital, 835, East River Road, New Glasgow, N.S. B2H 3S6. Arrangements are under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville.
