S. Eliza (Dale) Priest

NEW GLASGOW – S. Eliza Priest, 92, of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Bunker Hill, Stellarton, passed away Thursday, May 15th, 2008, at the Manor. Born March 19, 1916, in Chignecto, Cumberland Co., she was a daughter of the late James and Lettisah (Seamon) Dale. Eliza lived in Stellarton most of her life. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. She was also a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #28, Ladies Auxiliary, and received a 50-year medal from the auxiliary in 2006. She was a former employee of Norfolk Hotel, New Glasgow for 15 years as an assistant chef and later chef. She was a former employee of the Alma Motel, New Glasgow, for six years. She was also a former employee, until her retirement, of the Aberdeen Hospital as cafeteria supervisor after 24 years. She is survived by her sons: Robert (Barbara) Priest, Stellarton; Fred (Brenda) Priest, New Glasgow; former daughter-in-law, Joan Priest, Stellarton; sister, Doris (Mrs. Joseph Price), Stellarton. Loving grandmother of Travis: Bekki, Heidi, Scott and Carrie; and six great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Robert Bowran Priest; sisters: Geraldine Lewis, Lois MacKenzie, Isabell Fisher, Jean Hale and Audrey Polson; brothers: Jerry, Andrew, Douglas, Horace and Elroy. Eliza dearly loved her family and will be fondly remembered for her hard work, strong faith, sense of humour and enjoyment of bingo. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only please.
