West Branch – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lois (MacMaster) MacKenzie, of West Branch, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on June 11, 2008. At the time of her death, Lois was surrounded by her loving family. Born August 20, 1916, in Seafoam, she was a daughter of the late Hughie and Maggie (Innis) MacMaster. She was predeceased by her husband, Rae MacKenzie; and by her brothers, Henry and Alex MacMaster; and her sisters, Annie May Anderson and Barbara MacMaster. She is survived by her daughters: Anne Stephens (John), Eileen Toole (Terry), Sandra Terry (Scott), Marjorie MacKenzie (Hunter); and by her grandchildren: Jason, Derek, Jennifer, Billy, Courtney, and Tamara. Lois was a loving mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all her family. She enjoyed socializing with people of all ages, as well as quilting, knitting, reading, playing bingo, and car drives with her family and friends. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Saturday from West Branch United Church, with Rev. Lara Scholey officiating. Burial will be in West Branch Cemetery. Donations in memory of Lois may be made to a charity of your choice.
