MCEACHREN, CHARLES WALTER Retired Corporal Charles Walter McEachren, CD of Oromocto, NB, passed away at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Wednesday, May 18th, 2005 after fighting a good fight. Born in Sandy Point, NL he was the son of the late John and Evelyn (Bandfield) McEachren and the husband of Evelyn (Hayward) McEachren. Charles was in the WWII conflict in Italy and served in the military for 32 years. He was based out of several places including, Washington, DC, St. John's, NL, Halifax, NS, served a year in the Peace Corp in Egypt and was also based out of CFB Gagetown where he finished out his service and retired. After his retirement from the military, he decided to work as a cook for the RCMP in Fredericton, enjoying this career for four years. Charles was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93, the Free Masons and the Orange Lodge. He also especially enjoyed fishing off the bridge on Treasure Island at their winter home. Charles was a wonderful and loving husband and father and he will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn; daughters, Janet Boyer (James) of Penetanguishene, ON, Heather Mielke (Greg) of Petawawa, ON and Karen McFarlane (Gary) of Charters Settlement, NB. He was also a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren, James Boyer (Carolyn), John Boyer (Candice), Toby Mielke, Hollie Mielke, Valeri Perry (Shawn) and his great-grandchildren, Konrad Boyer and Amy Perry. He is also survived by his siblings, Frances White (Adain), Mary Hulan (Edgar), Cameron McEachren (Marilyn), Banfield McEachren (Loretta), Edna Dean (George), Evelyn Loder (Angus), Mervin McEachren (Bertha), Selby McEachren (Carmel), and David McEachren (Margaret Pinksen); sister-in-law, Josephine McEachren and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; infant brother, Israel and his brother, James. Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Friday, May 20th, 2005 from 2-4 and 79 pm with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93 holding a tribute service at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. John's Anglican Church on Saturday, May 21st, 2005 at 3:00 pm. Rev. Keith Howlett will officiate. A reception will follow the service in the church hall.
