
ROMA HENDERSON
HENDERSON, ROMA Roma Henderson (nee Dodds) passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, June 6th, 2005 following a brief illness. Roma was born on January 22nd, 1921 in Surrey, England, the daughter of the late Jackson and Florence Dodds. The family immigrated to Canada where she attended Trafalgar School in Montreal and then went to King's Hall, Compton, now part of Bishop's College School in Lennoxville, Quebec. After graduation, a year at a Swiss "Finishing School" followed. She enrolled at McGill University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. In the Second World War she joined the WREN's, soon becoming an officer assigned to Ottawa. For a period after the War she worked for Bell Telephone of Canada. Roma with her late husband, John Henderson, spent time in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Somalia. She was a volunteer in Toronto for the CNIB and in Fredericton for the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. She was also a supporter of the Beaverbrook Gallery and the Fredericton Playhouse. Survived by her sons, Colin and his wife, Mary of London, ON, Peter and his wife, Susan of Rockwood, ON, Taigen and his wife, Bonnie of Toronto, ON, Tony and his wife, Bonnie of Fredericton, NB; eleven grandchildren; two great - grandsons; brothers, Dr. Donald Dodds and Stanley Dodds; sister, Jean Kazi and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 8th, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 9th, 2005 at 2:00 PM. Rev. Larry Matthews will officiate.
