Charles (Harold) O'Byrne
O'Byrne, Charles (Harold) It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great great-grandfather. Charles Harold O'Byrne, born in 1911 in Ottawa ON, came West in 1929. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife Mary of 67 years, sons Michael of Moose Jaw, Jim (Joanne) of Cold Lake, Tom of Kamloops and his daughters Elaine (Garry) Balerud of Moose Jaw, Margaret (Pat) Bence, of Calgary, Nora (Eugene) Gauthier of Sherwood Park. His memory will be cherished by his 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Mary and Daniel O'Byrne, his sister Elaine (1932), Daughters Mary Ann (1951) and Theresa (1972), his son John (1955), and by his grandson Jeff (1972). Harold was proud of his family, his happiest times being family gatherings. He enjoyed hockey and football, cross word puzzles and a good game of cribbage. He was a member of the Separate School Board, an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus having joined the order in 1934. He worked diligently at Child and Gower for 39 years, and 6 years prior to his retirement was a dedicated caretaker at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be held at the Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St. Moose Jaw, on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
