VELMA MARIE We STEEVES

STEEVES, VELMA MARIE We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Velma, at the QEII Halifax infirmary on July 20th. Born in Fredericton, NB, the daughter of Wesley and Emily (Hay) Bishop. Mom was a graduate of Fredericton business college, worked for RCA records in Montreal, the NB Government in Fredericton, and TransCanada Credit in Fredericton where she met our father, Brent. She is survived by her three daughters, Susan (Mike) Bannister, Riverview, NB, Janet Steeves, Chester, NS; Lori Steeves (Robert Emmerson), Chester, NS and two sons, Peter (Yvette Patterson) and Tim, of Halifax, Mom was also blessed with nine grandchildren, Jill, Kelly, Lindsay Bannister, Tim, Jordan, Andrew Webber, Wesley Steeves, Regan and Brent Steeves; two great grandchildren, Jackson Winchester and Makenzie Unger. Velma also leaves her brother, Ralph Bishop, Fredericton, NB. She was predeceased by her husband, Brent C. Steeves in 1991, her sister, Myrtle MacDonald, and brother, Russell Bishop. Mom was a long time member of Ashburn Golf Club, The Halifax Curling Club, and was an avid Bridge player, belonging to three bridge clubs. She enjoyed her volunteer work for the IWK Kermesse. Mom was a very gifted seamstress, and a painter who for many years participated in various craft shows. Visitation will be held Friday, July 22. From 7-9 pm. at J. A. Snows Funeral Home, and a memorial service to celebrate mom's life at J.A. Snows Chapel on Saturday, July 23 at 11:00 am. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Charity of one's choice.
