LEONHARD MAURUS
MAURUS, LEONHARD The death of Leonhard Maurus of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Thursday, September 15th, 2005. Born in Turkheim, Germany he was the son of the late Leonhard and Teresia (Heimerl) Maurus and the husband of Renate Maurus. In 1992, he arrived in Fredericton with the task entrusted by the Urban family of Memmingen, Germany to establish a manufacturing facility for the North America market. He, in his role as General Manager, repaid this trust by creating a successful and stable organization supporting an ever growing number of local employees. He could fulfill his life dream and after having experienced many other places around the globe, New Brunswick became truly a home from home for him. Survived by his wife, Renate; one son, Gunther Maurus of Maple Grove, MN, USA; one daughter, Christine Kerler of Memmingen, Germany and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 24th, 2005 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Ken Weir will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Leonhard Maurus Vocational Training/Educational Fund at NBCC Saint John c/o Student Services.
