MacDONALD, ALFRED ERNEST The death of Alfred Ernest MacDonald , of Fredericton, occurred on Friday September 23, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital at the age of 84. Born in Black River, NB, he was a son of the late George and Alberta MacDonald, and widow of the late Isabella (Robertson) MacDonald in 1973. Alfred was a licensed mechanic, before his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the North Shore Regiment and the Carleton York Regiment in England, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cribbage with his many friends. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch #4 Fredericton. He is survived by three sons John (Charlene), Alistair and Malcolm (Simone); two daughters Sheila Johnston (Wayne) and Morag Havenga (Wieger); seven grandchildren Brenda Johnston, Michael (Tammy) Johnston, Melissa Aitas (Tom), Krista and Meghan MacDonald, Shannon (Tim) O'Connell and Trevor Havenga; five great grandchildren Courtney and Juliana Blackmore, Hayley and Logan Johnston, Jakob Aitas; brother Arthur (Mina) MacDonald; two sisters Jacqueline Lane and Carmel (Al) Vienneau; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two brothers; three sisters; an infant son. Visitation will be held from Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton on Sunday, from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home on Monday September 26, 2005 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Miller officiating. Interment will be held at the Rural Cemetery Extension. For those who wish, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
