ALTON JOHN HOOD

HOOD, ALTON JOHN Alton J. Hood of Magundy passed away October 1, 2005 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He remained positive and always thought of others throughout his long illness. Born at Harvey Station in 1950, he was a son of Christine (Smith Hood) Whitlock and the late George Hood. Following graduation from Harvey High School, Alton began work at Kings Landing, followed by employment with Natural Resources. Then for many years he was a general contractor. In later years he worked for the Department of Transportation, Hoyt's Orchards and A.D. Fiander. Alton was a member of the Second Kingsclear Baptist Church, a loving husband and father. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed his fish pond and 4 wheeling. Alton is survived by his wife, Wendy F. (Howell) Hood; two sons, Jared and Daniel, both of Magundy; his mother, Christine Whitlock (Doug), Fredericton; five sisters, Glenna Barton (Eugene), Sherwood Park, AB, Delma Rogers (Tom), Halifax, NS, Janet Howland (Richard), Upper Kingsclear, Grace Brown (Weyman), Mazerolle Settlement and Roberta Joyce (Douglas), Sherwood Park, AB; a brother, Melvin Hood, Lake George; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Resting at the Second Kingsclear Baptist Church, 15 Mazerolle Settlement Road with visiting hours Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Eugene Morell officiating. Interment will take place in Magundy Sand Bank Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darroll Anderson and Laurie King, Edgar and Adeline Pike, Paul and Jean Murphy, Brent and Mary Stairs, Brian and Laura McLean and Shawn Anderson. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Alton, the family has suggested the Second Kingsclear Baptist Church Music Department, Ambassadors for Christ or a charity of the donor's choice.
