ROSS, ARTHUR L. The death of Arthur L. Ross of Fredericton, NB, and formerly of Boiestown, NB, occurred on Sunday January 22nd, 2006 at the Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born in Holtville, NB, he was the son of the late Leroy Thomas Ross and Iva Pearle (Carson) Ross Arthur is survived by one daughter, Alta Bird (Wayne) of Charters Settlement, NB; one son, Nelson Ross (Madeline) of Greenwood, NS; six grandchildren, Angela Hare (Bruce) of Moncton, NB, Laura Bouchard (Dean) of Halifax, NS, Neal Ross (Amy) of Lawrencetown, NS, Chris Bird (Beth) of Fredericton, NB, Nick Bird (Pamela) of Moncton, NB, and Holly Bird (Jason) of Beaver Dam, NB; seven great-grandchildren, Harrison, Spencer and Adam Bouchard, Ashley Price and Brandon Bird, and Madison and Matthew Bird; one brother, Clarence Ross husband of the late Audrey Ross; four sisters, Flora Rich (Merlin) of Paris, Ont., Merle Reed, wife of the late Roy Reed of Fredericton, NB, Dorothy Forbes (James) of Nashwaak Bridge, NB, and Georgina Boucher (Tony) of Boiestown, NB. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 53 years, Vivian (Betts) Ross, one son, Cecil Ross; one sister, Stella Scott and one brother John Ross. Arthur was a veteran of World War II serving overseas from January 1942 until August of 1946. Following the war, he was employed for a short time with Irving Ross until enlisting with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1954, and served as a firefighter until 1965. After his military service, he joined the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. Following his service as a commissionaire, he worked as a Security Guard with UNB until his retirement in 1988. At this time, he and his wife Vivian moved to Boiestown and built their dream retirement home on the bank of the Miramichi. He was an active member of the Boiestown Pentecostal Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 78. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and a great story teller. The family will receive visitors at the Boiestown Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, January 24th, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #78 will hold a tribute service at the church Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at the church on Wednesday, January 25th, 2006 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Stephen Ashfield officiating, assisted by Rev. Rob Hanson. Memorial tributes made to the Canadian Cancer Society, The New Brunswick Wildlife Federation or the New Brunswick Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family. Interment will take place in the Boiestown United Church Cemetery at a later date.
