Audrey Irene Smith June 9, 1919 - June 6, 2008 Audrey Irene Smith, beloved wife of Norm, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 6, 2008, three days short of her 89th birthday. Born in Moose Jaw, Audrey grew up on the McKeown family farm at Archydal. Her early years of schooling were at the Archydal School. Later the family moved to Caron where she completed her education. Audrey married Norm December 25, 1942 at which time they moved to Red Deer, Alberta residing there until Norm was posted overseas in 1943. She then moved back to live with her parents, George and Elizabeth McKeown until Norm returned from the war. Their home then was the Smith family farm north of Boharm where they raised their three children. Their final move was to Moose Jaw in 1978. Audrey loved playing ball as a young woman, later curling became her passion and many winters were spent curling and at bonspiel's with sisters-in-law and close friends. Archydal Bridge Club was also a Monday afternoon tradition for over 50 years. Audrey and Norm spent many hours volunteering for the Exhibition Company and made numerous friends there. Predeceased by her parents, George and Elizabeth McKeown, sister, Ena; brothers: Kenneth and Raymond, she is survived by husband, Norm; three children: Pat (Bill) Fasick - Calgary, Alberta; grandchildren: Dorrie, Brent (Lisa); great-grandchildren: Aidan and Gavin; Mike (Shirley) Smith - Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Jason - Calgary and Quin - Moose Jaw; Jackie (Grant) Hogg - Red Lake, Ontario; grandchildren: Jody (Greg) Bogaert - Port Lambton, Ontario, and Kirby - Canmore, Alberta and a brother, Keith (Jean) - Vernon, B.C. Following a private family interment, friends are invited to join the family in Celebration of Audrey's Life at the W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. Della Ferguson will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations, if so desired, may be directed to a charity of choice. In living memory of Audrey, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
