Mabel (nee Myren) McIntyre

Mabel McIntyre (nee Myren) passed away peacefully on May 20, 2008 at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home in Saskatoon at the age of 91 years. Mabel was born on September 2, 1916 on the farm in the Shaunavon District. After finishing her schooling at Mule Creek School, she was employed in Shaunavon where she met and married Vern McIntyre in 1943. Vern was with the Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps until his discharge in 1945. Mabel and Vern lived in Shaunavon, Admiral, Weyburn, Regina and Saskatoon where Vern was General Manager of Cooperative Trust Company of Canada, until his death in 1975. Following Vern's death, Mabel moved to Moose Jaw to be near her sisters Ann, Clara and family and son Robert. She was active in bowling and made many friends there. When her health started failing she moved to Saskatoon to be with Robert and Joanne who cared for her until her Alzheimer's worsened at which time she moved to Saskatoon Convalescent Home in November, 2006 where she resided until her death. Mabel was predeceased by her husband Vern; her parents Peder and Josephine Myren, Shaunavon; sister Clara Semenchuck, Moose Jaw in 1983; brother Carl, Shaunavon in 1988; brother Joe, Swift Current in 1976; brother Alfred, Shaunavon in 1997; and sister Ann Lasby, Moose Jaw in 2008. She is survived by her son Robert and his partner Joanne Taylor, Saskatoon; sister Myrtle Boyle, Regina; special niece Shirley Begin (Ed), Moose Jaw; niece Gail Daniels (Charlie), Calgary; nephews Gary Semenchuck (Bunny), Regina; Bob Myren (Marilyn), Saskatoon; Richard Myren (Maryann), Calgary; Bill Boyle, Los Angeles; Rick Boyle, Calgary; Dennis Myren, Houston, Texas; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. The graveside interment service of her cremated remains will be held at Veteran's Memorial Gardens at Hillcrest Cemetery at Shaunavon (where her husband Vern was buried) on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. with Funeral Celebrant Bernadette Schneider officiating. Lunch will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Shaunavon.
