Mike Rekunyk, long time resident of South Hill, Moose Jaw, passed away June 16, 2008. Mike was born in Moose Jaw on February 28, 1925. He farmed with his parents south of Moose Jaw until enlisting with the Canadian Forces and going overseas, where he met and married Johanna in Holland. They returned to Moose Jaw following the War, where they raised their family. Mike worked for CFB Moose Jaw as head of maintenance for 37 years, until his retirement. Mike and Ann were faithful members of WakamowWont, lovingly providing more than 1000 loaves of bread to the wildlife in Wakamow each year. Predeceased by his daughter, Aggie, Mike is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Ann; his children: Steve of Buffalo Pound Lake, and his daughter Mandy of Moose Jaw; Linda (John) van Strien and their daughters, Robin and Jannal (Miles) Yeroschak and their son Connor - all of Moose Jaw; and Mike (Debbie) and their children Michelle and Jordan - all of Saskatoon. A Graveside Service will be held at the Veteran's Section, Rosedale Cemetery on Friday June 20, 2008 at 1:30 pm. Linda Owens will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by Marty Martell. Family and Friends are invited to join the Family at W.J.Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., following the Service at 2:30 pm.
