MANNETTE, CHARLES On March 10, 2006 Douglas Charles Mannette of Quispamsis, NB passed away unexpectedly in the loving arms of his wife Barbara of 36 years. He was born July 5, 1947 in Oromocto, NB. Doug was a dedicated Father to Karen (Khalid) and Kathy (Doug). He was a loving brother to Raymond and Anne (Jim) and a proud Papa to his three grandchildren, the apples of his eye Meredith (4), Benjamin (2) and Khadigah (2). He was a devoted son to Irene and son in law to Mary Patricia Hazlewood, and was predeceased by his father Charles. Doug was loved and respected by his in laws, several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends. Doug was employed with the NB Telephone Company, Xerox Canada and the Canadian Red Cross Society. For the past 12 years, Doug has been a successful entrepreneur, owning ATHENA, The Art and Framing Store, in McAllister Place Mall. Among his many accomplishments, he was a member of the Canadian Ski Patrol, The Atlantic Health Science Corporation Board of Directors and was involved with many volunteer organizations. Recently retired, Doug and Barb were enjoying many happy moments in their condo in Largo, Florida. Doug enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a funny, smart, caring and compassionate man. Following cremation, visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday March 15, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday March 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. The family would appreciate donations made to the Lynn Childs Mentorship Fund c/o Saint John Regional Hospital or to the charity of the donor's choice. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
