- Kathleen (Kit) Kit McDougall
Born: April 28th, 1913
Passed on: June 20th, 2008
- Kathleen (Kit) Kit McDougall passed away peacefully at Providence Place in Moose Jaw (where she had lived since 2001), on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the age of 95. Kit was born April 28, 1913 and lived her entire life as a proud citizen of Saskatchewan. She married her school sweetheart, Clayton McDougall, in 1934. They had 57 beautiful years together until Clayton's death in 1991. As true partners in their married life, they shared the duties of building a very successful farm in the Bankend area, which to this day remains in the family. In the early years Kit was never afraid to run farm machinery, while also maintaining a well run household. Kit will be lovingly remembered by her children: Duane McDougall, Moose Jaw and his children Steven, Kevin, Darryl, Curt and Corey; Elaine McDougall and Rick, Calgary; Doug McDougall and Brenda, Bankend and his children Pam, Ryan, Derek and Dallas; Lindsay McDougall and Colleen, Edmonton and their children Kala and Shelby; Shirley Schmidt and Garth, Lipton and their children Lori, Lindsay and Micheal, and Ken McDougall and Barb, Winnipeg and their children Payden, Baily and Kelly. Kit was a loving and devoted wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her family was the center of her life. Any decisions she made and all actions taken, were always done in the best interests of her family. She was extremely hard-working, generous in every way and patient beyond measure. She loved to garden, planting and harvesting a huge vegetable garden each year until the age of 88, when she moved to Moose Jaw. She enjoyed her friends and neighbours - making many telephone calls and visits for tea. She had always been very physically active; she walked every day and was known to ride her bike until the age of 85! Her life was full. However, life changed drastically after Clayton died - her broken heart never really mended. The decision to move away from her beloved farm was a difficult one, but once she had moved, she never complained, accepting things as they came. She treasured the visits from family and friends. Sincere thanks is extended to those caring staff members at Providence Place who became her "new" friends. Besides her immediate family and 17 grandchildren, she is survived by 8 great-grandchildren. She will be so missed by all who knew her, especially her family. Funeral Services will be held in the Elfros United Church on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Tompkins Funeral Home (306) 338 - 3754 Wadena, SK.
