SHANKS, KEITH ERIC The passing of our beloved Keith Eric Shanks, of New Maryland, NB, occurred on April 4, 2006 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Keith was the loving husband of Elaine W. (Irwin) Shanks. Born on April 27, 1960, in Oromocto, NB, he was the son of the late John Hazen and Flora (Nodwell) Shanks. Keith was employed by Region 3 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. He was a member of Greenwood Drive United Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by his step-sons, Stephen Johnson of Toronto, ON and Adam Johnson (Angie) of Fredericton; two brothers, Brien Shanks (Eunice) of Fredericton and Robert Shanks (Debbie) of Rusagonis; several nieces and nephews and his close friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Betty, Elva, Carolyn; two brothers, Charles and John Jr. Keith was awarded his second degree black belt in Karate in February of this year. He taught classes for children and adults, including ladies self defense. He excelled in archery in his earlier years. Also, Keith was talented in many trades and was industrious, strong and gentle. He had a love and respect for all creatures, especially his pets; Sammy, Snowy and Spice. During his illness he was surprised and very touched that so many people cared about him. Vistation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm and again on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 1 pm from Greenwood Drive United Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Arbo officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
