SMITH, JOHN RICHARD (JACK) The death of John Smith of Gagetown, NB occurred at Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, on Monday, April 24th, 2006. Born in Fredericton, NB. He was the son of the late John Richard and Sarah Jane (Dobson) Smith and husband of Helen (Palmer) Smith. Jack joined the Military and served during WWII. He later worked as Operations Manager at the University of New Brunswick for 36 years before retiring in 1983. John will be sadly missed by his wife, Helen; daughters, Heather Stevens (Mark) of Cody's, NB; Lynda Smith of Fredericton; and Susan McAllister (Peter) of Fredericton, NB; seven grandchildren, Kim, Kelly, Kent, Julie, Lesley, Angela and Justin; 13 great grandchildren, one sister, Marjorie Bemrose of Burton, NB; one daughter in law, Sandra Smith of Hammond River; several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents; and one son, Donald Richard Smith; sisters, Lillian Edwards, Hilda Dorcas. There will be no visitation by Jack's request. A private funeral service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel at a later date. Rev. David Barrett will officiate. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery.
