VERNON ERNEST HOWLAND

HOWLAND, VERNON ERNEST Vernon E. Howland of Scotch Settlement passed away at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Saturday, August 26, 2006. Born in Springfield, York Co., NB in 1931, he was a son of the late Ralph C. and Thelma J. (Edmondson) Howland. Vernon had a love of nature and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Grace (Price) Howland; two sons, Robert Howland (Janet), Calgary, AB and Merrill Howland (Janice Vroom), Fredericton; one sister, Rosalie Jones (David), Rossville; one brother, Elwood Howland (Ruby), Scotch Settlement; three grandsons, James and Andrew, both of Calgary and Brandon, Fredericton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Vernon was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kathryn Howland; and a brother-in-law, Ellis Fox. Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. George Clark officiating. Interment will be in Scotch Settlement Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Les Hull, David Ketch, Bernus Grey, Ashley Shaw, Burpee Pond and Ronald Edmondson.
