Jean (nee Pickett) Weiss

Jean Weiss (nee Pickett) passed away peacefully on August 13, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Born in England in 1920, she moved to Canada at the age of ten and lived in Guelph, Ontario. In 1942 she married Rudolph Weiss and in 1951 moved to Shellbrook, Saskatchewan. Jean moved to Moose Jaw in 2001. Predeceased by her husband, Rudolph, sister, Eileen Keleher and her brother, Ken Leader, Jean is survived by her children: Larry (Teena) Weiss of Balgonie, Linda (Eugene) Robin of Regina, and Lloyd (Mary) Weiss of Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Brad and Crystal Weiss; Carla Sigda; Blake, Aaron and Carmen Robin, and Tom Firth; ten great-grandchildren; her sisters: Joan Finamore and Bernice (Paul) Lamont; sisters-in-law: Selma Weiss and Frieda Weiss, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary in Shellbrook, receiving her 35 year pin in 2007. She also served with the Anglican Church Women in Shellbrook for many years. A Celebration of Jean's Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Pastor Richard Franklin will officiate. Interment will take place in Shellbrook at a later time. Memorials in Jean's memory may be made to St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Shellbrook, Sask.
