ALFRED EARNEST MARR
MARR, ALFRED EARNEST Alfred E. Marr of Millville passed away October 16, 2006 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in 1930, he was a son of the late Edward E. and Nellie M. (Prosser) Marr. For 18 years, Alfred worked for the CPR as a bridgeman. He was a carpenter by trade and a 39 year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners, Local 1386. During the construction of the St. Anne-Nackawic Pulp Mill he worked for various companies, including Sunny Corner Enterprises and North York Industries. Alfred enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. In earlier years he had been an avid snowmobiler. He had also enjoyed square dancing and had been a member of the Nackawic Headpond Twirlers. During the past 10 years he and Carolyn visited NS, NL and PE. In spite of declining health, he enjoyed meeting people and telling stories and especially enjoyed occasions for dining out. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn J. (Estey) Marr; two sons, Andrew Marr, Lansdowne and William Marr (Kathryn), Hanwell; a granddaughter, Jessica Marr; a grandson, Matthew Marr; four sisters, Verta Kinney (Karl), Island View, Lila Myshrall (Donald), Millville, Anna Weild, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and Geraldine Reid, Nackawic; a brother, Reginald Marr (Sandra), Nackawic; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Alfred was predeceased by the mother of his children, Gaynell (Downey) Marr in 1990. Resting at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic with visiting hours Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Millville Baptist Church on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Donald MacDougall officiating. Interment will follow in Hawkins Corner Cemetery.
