ROY DOUGLAS MACKIN
MACKIN, ROY DOUGLAS Died peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 17, 2006. He was born February 14, 1938 in Saint John and was the son of the late James and Mary Genevieve (Joyce) Mackin. Roy joined the Bayview Credit Union in 1977 and acted as General Manager until his retirement in 2002. He was well loved by the staff and respected within the credit union movement in the Maritimes. He was instrumental in the start up of many Co-ops and sat on numerous boards. Most recently he acted as Deputy Mayor of Cambridge Narrows, his newly adopted home, and was the Vice President on the Board of Directors for Fundy Funeral Home. Roy proudly participated in the lives of his children and grandchildren, their hopes and their dreams. He leaves to mourn, his wife Janet (Cunningham), his brother Frederick (Iva) Mackin, his daughter Catherine (Dean) Rhyno, his son Michael (Josee) Mackin; grandchildren Thomas and Timothy Shannon, Stephanie and Kaylee Mackin. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Margaret, his brother Frank and his beloved daughter Mary Carolyn. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424) with visitations on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday 9-11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Friday October 20, 2006 at 12 noon. Following cremation a private family interment will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.
