JOHNSON, KENNETH EBENEZER At York Manor Nursing Home on December 4, 2006, Kenneth E. Johnson of Fredericton passed away at the age of 89. Born in Penniac, NB he was a son of the late Walter and Maude (Saunders) Johnson and husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (White) Johnson. Ken was employed with the Marysville Cotton Mill, first as a Loom Fixer, then later as Foreman of the Weave Room. In the middle of his career with the Cotton Mill, Ken served during World War II with the 5th Canadian Anti-Tank Regiment as a gunner. After leaving the Cotton Mill, he worked as an Auto Mechanic and finished his working years as a Stationary Engineer with the Federal Government at the former Experimental Farm. His love for God was demonstrated through his love and commitment to family, community and serving in many capacities in the church. He was a member of the Marysville Seniors Bowling League and always enjoyed sports on TV, especially baseball, hockey, and curling. He was always pleased when his nephew Don Johnson joined him on Saturdays at home and later at York Manor. He is survived by daughters Gail (Don) Kierstead of St. Johns, Nfld.; Sandra and Barbara both of Fredericton; Evelyn Johnson of Prince George, BC; Eleanor (Dennis) Knowles of Cambridge, Ont.; Kathy (Randy) Shanks of Sussex; grandchildren Paul Kierstead of Ottawa; Angela Mooney of Prince George, BC; Tyler Shanks of Fredericton; three great-grandchildren Dayne, Raymond, and Emma; brother-in-laws; several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by an infant daughter Angela, sister Annie Haines, brothers Wallace, George, and Bill, as well as three nephews. Resting at Bishops Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd. with visitation on Wednesday December 6, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Olivet Wesleyan Church in Marysville on Thursday December 7, 2006 at 2pm with Rev Dr. Tom Ward officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery in the spring. For those who wish memorials may be made to the York Manor Nursing Home, Olivet Wesleyan Church or charity of the donors choice.
