SCOTT, RAYMOND W. Raymond (Ray) Wilfred Scott, beloved son of Rev. Wilfred E. Scott and Elsie Scott passed away peacefully December 11, 2006 at the age of 86. Surviving to mourn Raymond is his beloved wife Alice, sons Richard, Donald (Sharon), Bruce (Nancy), sisters Lois and Evlyn (Cameron) and brother Gerald in New Brunswick, sister-in-law Isabel, grandchildren Zoe, Garnet, Sacha, Bradley, Michael and step grandson Rodnie along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, their families and his dear friends. Ray was born in Oxford, Nova Scotia, moving to New Brunswick at an early age. He grew up and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his Dad and exploring the forests and streams around Apohaqui, N.B. This is where he received his early education, completing his high school in Sussex, N.B. Ray joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as an enlisted man at the onset of the Second World War. He completed basic training and graduated with his Maintenance Flight in 1943 at Lethbridge, AB. While stationed in Lethbridge he met and fell in love with Alice Hoyt in November of 1941. Ray completed his Flight Engineer certification and was posted to Eastern Air Command in May 1944 and had action and adventure with PBY5A Canso flying boat aircraft followed by BR11 Consolidated Liberators (B-24). Just before starting this post Ray went to Lethbridge on leave and married Alice. At this time he became familiar with hiking and fishing in Waterton Park. All members of Ray's aircrew became dear lifelong friends. The remaining members of this aircrew mourn the loss of their friend. Ray was released from the RCAF in July, 1945 at Calgary, AB. He immediately reunited with Alice in Lethbridge and began work as an automotive mechanic at Mechanic Sales in Lethbridge until 1951 at which time Ray took employment with Canadian Pacific Airlines (CPA) in Calgary as an Aircraft Maintenance Foreman. Ray updated his qualifications and became a civilian licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME). It is during this period, Ray and Alice's sons, Richard, Donald and Bruce arrived. In July of 1965, Ray moved his family to Edmonton when he took a job as an Air Worthiness Inspector with Department of Transport (DOT). After being promoted through the ranks in this job, Ray retired from the DOT in 1984. Ray's retirement years were filled with pleasure and love. Ray and Alice traveled and explored Western Canada with frequent trips back to his roots and family in New Brunswick. He enjoyed interacting with his adult children and grandchildren who will miss his constant and surprising humor. Fishing in the mountains and hunting bird game in the boreal forests continued to be two of his great passions. He last participated in an all day hunt October 21st this year and returned home, with birds for the pot, at sundown where Alice was smiling and waiting for him at the door. Cremation has taken place and a burial service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Lethbridge at 1:00 PM on December 28th, 2006 immediately followed by a private dinner for family and close friends.
