MITCHELL, JOHN JOSEPH The death of John Joseph Mitchell of Waasis, NB, occurred on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, son of the late Charles and Eva (Boucher) Mitchell and husband of the late Eileen (Yerxa) Mitchell. John was self employed and spent most of his working life in construction and demolition. He was a chartered member of the Lincoln Lions Club since 1969, where he held the position of President for 3 terms and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award for his contribution on numerous boards and committees. He was a lifelong and active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Oromocto. John is survived by seven sons, John (Geraldine), Doug (Tina), Brian, Timmy, and Mike (Toni), Steven (Sue) all of Fredericton, and Daryle (Andrea) of Prince George, BC; four daughters, Doreen Harkiolakis (Mike) of Saint John, NB, Sandra Mitchell of Moncton, NB, Terry Sturgeon (Donnie) of Fredericton, NB, and Kary Pike (Mike) of Fredericton; 23 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Mitchell (Katie) of Marlborough, Mass., two sisters, Eleanor (Norm) Casey of Saint John, NB, and Jeanette Mero (Gene) of Florida. The family will receive visitors at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street, Oromocto, on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Saturday, January 27th, 2007 at 12:00 noon with Fr. Peter Stevens as celebrant.
