Russell , Richard Bernard (Bernie) February 7, 1931 - September 30, 2008 Bernie Russell, beloved husband of Leona Russell of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the age of 77 years, following a sometimes joyous, always challenging battle with cancer. Bernie was born in Moose Jaw, SK to Richard Patrick and Elizabeth (Beechinor) Russell. He attended Campion College in Regina, after which he began his successful sales and management career with Sunbeam and General Electric, then ran his own importing and distributing company. During the final fifteen year stage of his career, he enjoyed representing the Washington State Fruit Commission and Washington Apples in Canada. He valued the friendships of his business colleagues until his passing. Bernie will be missed by his loving wife of forty-nine years Leona (Hourigan); daughters, Janet Misutka (Dan) and Lea Russell; and sister Margaret Lyttle. He was the proud Grandpa of Elizabeth and Alex Misutka. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Martin and Tom; and sister Nora Prentice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
