Anne Watson (nee Gallagher) Elsie
Born: October 3rd, 1921
Elsie Anne Watson (nee Gallagher) Born October 3, 1921 at Keeler, SK. Died September 26, 2008 at Stony Plain, AB surrounded by her children. Elsie's positive attitude was unwavering even as her health failed and she was an inspiration to those near her. Elsie will forever be remembered by her children: Doug (Cheryle) Watson, Victoria, BC; Judith (Ron) Clarke, Stony Plain, AB; and Larry (Vicki) Watson, Olds, AB. She was a loving and patient grandma to 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She lived by the creed that love sought is good, but given unsought is better. Elsie is survived by sisters Louise Watson, Regina, SK and Dorothy Rhodes, Calgary, AB. "Big Grandma" never forgot a birthday and never tired of a child's smile. Children were the clay of her life and through them shaped what she wanted to be. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Reg in 1998 after 55 years of marriage and a grandson Scott Clarke in 1992. Elsie and Reg spent most of their married life in Avonlea and were committed to making the world around them a better place. They left their mark on the community through their work in the Avonlea United Church, service clubs, Dunnet Regional Park and the Wildlife Federation. Mom journeyed to the forest many times, admiring the landscape. She understood that bare stumps and empty spaces were not imperfections, but rather the forest itself. And so she lived and found room in her heart to embrace it all. Though mom had to leave her beloved province for the past 5 years of her life, she remained a staunch ambassador for Saskatchewan and an unwavering Roughrider fan. A "Celebration of Her Life" will be held on Sunday, October 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East, Regina. Linda Demerse of Truax will officiate. The family gratefully request that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, Regina, SK (1-800-900-1161).
